Abstract: |
The evaluation located a layer of re-worked material, probably a cultivation soil of medieval and later periods. This overlaid a series of ditches and possible beam slots containing pottery from the Roman and medieval periods. A series of medieval and post-medieval pits and post holes were also noted. A fine Roman carved bone clasp-knife handle was found in a ditch. The deposits were sealed by layers of rubble associated with the demolition of 19th century buildings. [Au(abr)] |
