Abstract: |
A metal-detector survey was undertaken at a site which had previously been subjected to illegal metal-detecting, both before and after the discovery of eight gold and silver Late Iron Age coins. Inconclusive readings and those which indicated non-ferrous metal were investigated by hand excavation. Separate dumps of ferrous and non-ferrous material, left by previous metal detectorists, were identified. Two possible linear features were noted, but were not excavated. Only modern metalwork was recovered. It was concluded that further ground survey to investigate the nature of the site would be advisable. [AIP] |
