Abstract: |
The excavation showed the presence of archaeological deposits across the entire proposed development site. Modern truncation had removed the upper layers of archaeological deposits on the site. Consequently it was unlikely that any deposits such as hearths or occupation horizons would have survived. The features most likely to have survived were the deeper pits, ditches and gullies. A linear feature was identified as a medieval land boundary. The curvilinear ditch identified did not appear to respect the post-medieval field systems, and may have represented part of an earlier field system or enclosure. The pits and post-holes across the site may have indicated occupation, however the extent of this could not be identified. [Au(adp)] |
