Abstract: |
Fieldwalking as part of an environmental assessment of proposed improvements to the A46 Alcester-Stratford road on behalf of the Highways Agency, located a thin scatter of Mesolithic and Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age flint concentrating in an area of c6ha, possibly indicating a settlement of the latter date. Further evaluation involving a magnetometer survey and three trial trenches found only faint traces of ridge and furrow cutting the natural, suggesting that any prehistoric below ground remains had been destroyed by medieval cultivation.[AIP] |
