Abstract: |
A Grade II Listed granary was archaeologically recorded, prior to its removal and re-erection elsewhere as a response to the widening of an adjacent road. The building had been part of an historic mill, which lay at a site where a mill had been recorded in the Domesday Book; its origins may have been earlier. Details of the granary's construction and fittings were recorded, and an adjacent stable or store building was also investigated. The latter had been added to the granary, and was of poorer quality brickwork. It contained a probable mechanical threshing machine. [AIP] |
