Abstract: |
Archaeological investigations, in advance of the construction of a gallery at the western end of the Church of St. Cuthbert, located evidence for components of an earlier gallery which had occupied the same position over much of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Investigations beneath these structural remains revealed human burials, including a multiple grave. No evidence was located for the west wall of the postulated tower or porch, previously identified in a dowsing survey of the church. [Au] |
