Abstract: |
<summary>An evaluation was carried out in the car park of the Pope's Grotto public house. The site was adjacent to, or within the area of Pope's Garden, a Listed Historic Garden. Trial-pits revealed the survival of a post-medieval ploughsoil (or possibly garden soil) and an horizon of brickearth. It was therefore thought quite possible that 19th/20th century development on the site had left some areas of earlier deposits relatively intact. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea}{italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} GLSMR021879, 021880 |
