Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a housing development, part of which had been occupied by a 19th century farmstead, of which a single building remained. This had become a scout hut. A 19th century or earlier field boundary also crossed the site. During a preliminary survey of the hut, at least three main construction phases were identified, the earliest of which dated from the late 18th century. During the evaluation, a 14th-16th century wall was revealed, and further buildings of the farmstead were recorded. The majority of features appeared to have undergone a major rebuild in the late 19th century. [AIP] |
