Abstract: |
An archaeological field evaluation and subsequent watching brief were undertaken in association with a commercial development. Four trenches were excavated and archaeological features were present in three, with a particular concentration of activity in the northerly quadrant of the site. The features were largely dated to the high Middle Ages (12th-13th century). The articulated remains of a horse were also partially recorded, probably of post-medieval date. In the light of the evaluation results, an intermittent watching brief was recommended. During the watching brief a further medieval feature and a possible Anglo-Saxon sunken floored building were observed. [Au(adp)] |
