Abstract: |
<summary>Test-pits were dug in order to evaluate this site, in response to a proposal to dig a cess-pit required for the use of the land as a scout activity and camp site. The site lay near to the former Whitfield settlement and the supposed site of the church of St Nicholas; five probably Romano-British burials were also recorded nearby. Both test-pits produced a few sherds of medieval pottery; a ditch-like feature containing pottery was also revealed in the second pit. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
