Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken while foundation and service trenches were excavated. The buildings at Little Langton Grange date back to the 14th century and earthworks have been noted to the south of the buildings. The site of the new building had formerly been an orchard, and subsequently to store farm equipment and a rough brick and cobble rubble track led into the site, this rubble spread over much of the area of interest. During the watching brief no archaeological features were observed. The variations in the level of the ground surface within the site seem more likely to reflect the extent of the rubble spread or the existence of trees than any significant earthworks. [Au(abr)] |
