Abstract: |
The works comprised the excavation of four evaluation trenches. Trench 1 revealed the front face of Hadrian's Wall, and the truncated remains of part of the body of the Wall. Trench 2 revealed several masonry blocks, assumed to be to the tumble from the wall, a stone-filled possible soakaway, a small undated pit, a modern drain and a garden feature. Trench 3 revealed a small, undated pit and a series of relatively modern drainage channels. Trench 4 exposed the northern side, and a section of the lower fills of, the vallum ditch, situated to the rear of the Hadrian's Wall complex. [Au(abr)] |
