Abstract: |
The area examined during the desk based assessment was formerly part of the Royal estate known as Kingswood. Industrial development commenced there in the late seventeenth century, although nothing other than normal agricultural use was recorded for the site proper prior to the eighteenth century. It was recognised though that the potential did exist for the presence of previously unrecorded archaeological remains from the prehistoric or later periods. Archaeological watching briefs were recommended during further development work. [AIP] |
