Abstract:		 The excavation of a shaft dug to gain access to a collapsed sewer was observed. Below modern deposits a layer which was interpreted as a possible medieval agricultural soil was encountered. Below this was a possible Roman ditch or pit base. No dateable artefacts were recovered and it was thought that modern services had damaged much of the site. [AIP]
