Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out after the demolition of buildings, before redevelopment. Two circular pits cut into natural brickearth deposits emerged in one trench. They were filled by silty soils containing animal bones, iron slag and occasional oyster shells. These types of soils and inclusions were typical of Saxon deposits observed in the vicinity of the development site. A drainage ditch of post-medieval date was also found. [AIP] |
