Abstract: |
Although Crediton town centre contained evidence of burgage plot development, the proposed development area appeared to be located ouside these plots, possibly within an area of former medieval strip fields. Evidence of sub-surface remains of possible ridge and furrow cultivation, identified by a geological survey confirmed this interpretation. The survey also identified a few ill-defined ditch and pit type responses of possible archaeological origin, although no evidence for further archaeological sites or finds were identified by documentary and archival searches.[Au(abr)] |
