Abstract: |
The assessment was undertaken in connection with a proposal to extend the existing facilities at Berkhamsted Cricket Sports & Social Club. The presence of a Romano-British structure just 70m to the north east of the club house suggested that there was a possibility of associated activity extending towards the site. The curious earthwork features noted in the area of the proposed car park area were not understood. They looked too complicated to be the remains of elements associated with a nine-hole golf course. It was possible that they were something to do with the military training activities of the 1914-18 war. [Au(abr)] |
