Abstract: |
A sample geophysical survey, covering 2ha, was carried out over the proposed site of a gravel quarry south of Box End. No probable archaeological anomalies were identified, except in the most southerly sample block, where responses similar to those typically caused by infilled archaeological features such as ditches or pits were located. However, due to the high level of intrusive activity in this part of the site, a non-archaeological origin for these anomalies could not be discounted, despite the known presence of similar archaeological features in the immediate vicinity.
