Abstract: |
The archaeological potential for the South Gorleston Development Area, based on the documentary sources and the aerial photographic evidence was considered to be high. The cropmarks indicated several periods of archaeological use of the landscape from the Bronze Age through to modern times. Of particular interest were possible ring-ditch/barrow sites likely to be accompanied by features of a prehistoric ritual landscape and the possible Roman road. There was further potential for buried soil and relict land surfaces to be preserved under medieval headlands. [Au] |
