Abstract:
Tees Archaeology were informed that a coffin had been discovered during the creation of a septic tank. Upon inspection the coffin was found to be devoid of articulated human remains. The coffin, although lacking nameplate, was broadly dated by construction techniques to the 18th / 19th centuries. Part of a second grave was also discovered although this too was lacking articulated remains. It may have been that this grave was somewhat older than the first. [AIP]
