Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during excavations for the replacement of a water main. Information relating to Ermine Street and the Romano-British roadside settlement at Navenby had added significantly to data collected through a programme of investigation that had been taking place since 1994. Important archaeological remains were exposed as a result of the works, including segments of the Roman road known as Ermine Street and rubble representing the remains of contemporary buildings. A possible prehistoric cultivation horizon and a series of post-medieval pits were also examined. [Au(abr)] |
