Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during ground reduction works at a development site. In the 18th century, John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist church, had stayed at a house in the area; this was thought to have lain on or near the site. Previous excavations at the site had revealed two possible Roman ditches, medieval wells and pits, a rare medieval glass urinal and pieces of leatherwork. During the watching brief, a number of undated pits and general ground build-up deposits were recorded. [AIP] |
