Abstract: |
With the recent construction of a bungalow to the northernmost end of Pulloxhill, planning permission required archaeological investigation of land to the west of this site. One trench measuring 13m by 3m was excavated adjacent to the new house. Even in this relatively small area archaeological deposits were encountered. The most significant was a north-south aligned ditch containing early prehistoric pottery. To date, this part of south Bedfordshire had produced relatively little evidence for this period. The remains of a levelled cultivation furrow and a large pit containing post-medieval pot could be dated to the medieval and/or post-medieval periods. [Au(abr)] |
