Abstract: |
The excavations produced structural evidence for a medieval tenement fronting onto Bridge Street. The excavated 13th century features included a flint wall foundation, a hearth, a sequence of floor surfaces, a cobbled yard, a boundary line of timber posts and tree stumps and a stake lined culvert. The site was waterlogged and preservation was good. A neighbouring medieval tenement to the south-east was also recorded but it had been cut through and disturbed by post-medieval tanning pits.
