Abstract: |
The assessment of the route of a water main divided the study area into 7 sections. It was demonstrated that the pipeline might transect discrete areas of archaeological survival. Below ground deposits in Area 7 were felt to have the potential to contribute to the current understanding of medieval, and possibly earlier landuse. Areas 1,2 and 6 had a high potential for furthering understanding of the medieval and early post-medieval town and landscape. Monitoring of groundworks in Areas 1,2,6 and 7 by an archaeologist was recommended. [Au(abr)] |
