Abstract: |
The majority of the site had been extensively redeveloped and it was likely that the construction of the Brewery in the mid 19th century would have removed earlier archaeological deposits. However, in the north-eastern part of the site, medieval boundary features relating to the former burgage plots or possibly earlier plough strips may have survived. These were likely to be the earliest features encountered on the site. Later garden features relating to the post-medieval town houses which occupied these plots may also be encountered in this area. Traces of the woollen spinning mills and worker's cottages might also have survived. [Au(abr)] |
