Abstract:		 A desk-based assessment was undertaken on the proposed development site. The assessment identified that the site was located within an area where Middle Palaeolithic material has been recovered. The assessment also identified that although the site was outside the medieval town defences, features associated with the defences had the potential to have been located in the northern portion of the site.
