Abstract: |
The assessment site was outside the Roman and medieval city boundaries and consequently there would have been less intrusive occupation than was usual. Archaeological evidence from the Roman period would generally by typical of more rural areas, with possible extra-mural burials. The site appeared to have been largely open ground during the medieval period, with buildings fronting onto Shoe Lane. Remains from the post-medieval period might have included pre and post Great Fire structures and yards. [Au(abr)] |
