Evidence for Roman activity was revealed during a watching brief, undertaken during the excavation of foundation trenches. The site lay within Roman Castleford. The Roman activity was seen in the western part of the site and consisted of banked up deposits containing pottery dating from the 2nd to 3rd centuries AD. [AIP]
