Abstract: |
Three trenches were excavated and provided evidence for the 17th century South Battery, as well as determining details of its construction. A river wall and second wall were encountered and tentatively dated to the pre-1627 construction of the battery. Other walls belonging to the battery were also noted. The work shed a great deal of light upon this feature, about which little was known apart from documentary evidence prior to the evaluation. [Au(adp)] |
