Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in relation to the proposed redevelopment of the site. Much of the site had been seriously truncated during modern decontamination works and the impact of the present development was therefore lessened, as much of the archaeological remains did not appear to be of major significance, being limited to post-medieval agricultural activity. The area surrounding trench 20 was much more significant as it had the potential for recovery of data associated with the production of pottery and possibly flower pots, which were being manufactured by the potter John Abbott on part of the site during the 19th century.
