Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at a proposed development site which lay near an area where Saxon settlement was known to have occurred. Waterlogged medieval deposits had been recorded at an adjacent site, and medieval pits had been found to the east. During the evaluation, two undated features of possible archaeological origin were revealed. Only 20th century artefacts were found. It was concluded that, owing to the proximity of medieval features and to the limited nature of the evalution trenching, the absence of archaeological features at the site had not been proven.
