Abstract: |
The archaeological evaluation identified small slate fragments, charcoal and clay pipe stems that indicated 18th and 19th century agriculture. This material may well have originated from domestic refuse from the nearby town, spread over the fields to increase the fertility. A shallow linear feature encountered probably represented a field boundary. Material recovered from the subsoil deposits were the earliest datable evidence for human activity. No other features or deposits of archaeological significance were seen. [Au(adp)] |
