Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken prior to the proposed lowering of the basement floor at 14-16 Creechurch Lane by 500-600mm. The assessment showed that the site lay in an area of archaeological potential of periods from the Roman to the post-medieval. The basement of the present building would have removed the medieval and post-medieval horizontal stratigraphy but was unlikely to have affected all of the Roman sequence and deep cut later features. It was recommended that an archaeological watching brief take place during the ground reduction. [Au(adp)] |
