Abstract: |
The c.3.28ha site of Alliance House comprised a standing office building and its surrounding land. An application for planning permission was to be submitted shortly. A review of documentary, geological, archival and cartographic sources indicated that there was potential for archaeological activity in the general area of the site. From the research conducted, it was thought that a substantial proportion of the deposits upon the site may have suffered severe disturbance as part of the modern modification of the site. However, two main areas of the site were identified where archaeological features may have survived. On this basis AOC recommended that trial trenches be placed in these areas as part of an archaeological evaluation. [Au(abr)] |
