Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out within a site which lay on the edge of the medieval village and it was considered that any groundworks may encounter archaeologial deposits of the medieval and later periods. Anglo-Saxon finds had also been recovered from the area to the east of the village. Various features were revealed during the watching brief; these consisted of pits, ditches and gullies which may have represented some activity associated with a building which stood on the western part of the plot, or they may have pre-dated it. A small assemblage of medieval pottery sherds was also revealed which consisted of Reduced Chalky and Splash Glazed wares as well as Beverley 2 Ware and Humberwares. [AIP.
