Abstract: |
The study identified a total of 11 archaeological and historic sites within 500m of the proposed route. There was a single scheduled monument and one Listed Building. The earliest evidence of human activity identified, was from the Mesolithic period and consisted of flint scatters and a stone structure. A nationally important site of quern production was also identified, dating to the Iron Age and the Romano-British period. Activity was identified continueing into the medieval and post-medieval periods, with the development of agriculture, communication and small scale industry. [Au(adp)] |
