Abstract: |
An evaluation consisting of five machine trenches was undertaken on land directly north of Barrack Place and directly west of Durnford Street, an area currently in use as a children's playground. The trenches revealed deep stratification of demolition deposits sealing substantial standing remains from a row of houses, dating to the late 18th or early 19th century and demolished due to firebomb damage during WWII.
