Abstract: |
Eight trial pits were excavated in the scheduled area, six within the monument and two outside. The results indicated that the original exposed surface would have been the underlying weathered natural bedrock, now revealed to be Purbeck limestone and not chalk as previously thought. A probable prehistoric feature of uncertain function was recorded upslope of the monument. [Au(adp)] |
