Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the remodelling of the land for the purpose of a golf course. The site lay within Cranborne Chase and the groundworks produced a small quantity of worked flint which included part of a Mesolithic tranchet axe. A single archaeological feature was recorded, an elongated pit or gully which contained a large amount of burnt flint. No datable finds came from this feature, however, it is most likely to have been of Late Bronze Age or Early Iron Age. [Au(abr)] |
