Abstract: |
An earthwork survey was undertaken as part of the Norfolk Earthworks Survey project (NES). A group of three contiguous ditched enclosures were situated 300m NNE of the church, abutting the flood plain of the River Wensum. The easternmost enclosure had the best defined boundaries, with entrances to west and east, the latter giving access to a semi-circular projection. A building outline and adjacent internal revetting suggested a manorial site, further enhanced by ponds in the other enclosures, at least to being probable fishponds. [Au(adp)] |
