Abstract: |
The study identified a potential for the presence of,in the northern half of the study area, late pre-Conquest, 11th century, structural remains with possible associated deposits and features. These might be associated with the medieval and later mill known to have been located next to the junction of Water Skellgate, Skellgarths and Duck Hill. There was some evidence that a stone mill race lies intact close to the Water Skellgate frontage heading eastwards towards Skellgarths. The southern part of the site may lay on, or close to a medieval course of the River Skell. [Au(abr)] |
