Abstract: |
An archaeological field survey was carried out in advance of a planning application for mineral extraction. The work followed a previous archaeological desk-top assessment which identified a chapelry boundary running through the study area and also the possibility of remnants of features associated with the post-medieval park of Woodcote Hall. Fieldwork comprised an archaeological walkover of the wood and a limited area immediately surrounding it. The field survey identified the presence of a feature running along the line of the chapelry boundary, surviving in part as a ditch, banked at one side along certain lengths and on both along others, and as a single bank in places. Several features probably associated with the post-medieval park were also identified. [Au(abr)] |
