Abstract: |
The assessment identified that the study area did not seem to have a rich archaeological potential. Low concentrations of prehistoric sites were identified and, although Roman farming settlements were likely to have existed, it was noted that there was a lack of Roman and Saxon sites in the area. Evidence of medieval farming was identified throughout the pipeline corridor. In the post-medieval period, the area had been mostly pastoral. Sites which would actually be cut by the pipeline comprised mainly parish boundaries and ridge and furrow, but included two post-medieval parks and possible ditches and ponds. [Au(adp)] |
