Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was carried out at proposed housing development at Middle Farm. Roman archaeology could have been present due to the Roman road passing the site. Medieval archaeology was present due to the fact that the village itself and associated field systems were medieval in date. In the post-medieval period the village was extended and rebuilt and therefore significant post-medieval remains were expected. This change might have come about due to the quarries and lime kilns which were extant in the area, local stone being utilized for local buildings and fertilizing the local fields. [Au(adp)] |
