Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of a proposed development site identified that it lay close to the historic nucleus of Camden village, which had been focused on the High Street. Post-medieval sites recorded in the area comprised an ice house, a burial ground, a deposit and a terraced house. It was concluded that the proposed development would probably affect any surviving made ground and archaeological deposits, particularly where proposed basement extensions were to be made into areas which were possibly not basemented at the time of the report. It was suggested that small scale trial work should be carried out on site, in order to obtain more specific data concerning archaeological survival. [AIP] |
