Abstract: |
A programme of archaeological observation, investigation and recording was undertaken during groundworks associated with the erection of a two-storey extension and a conservatory. Monitoring of the excavation of the foundation trench revealed a sequence of archaeological deposits relating to the post-medieval period. Areas of hard-standing and clay and gravel filled pits were noted as overlying the natural clays. Unstratified pottery artefacts collected throughout the watching brief were dated to the 19th century. [Au(abr)] |
