Abstract:
A watching brief was undertaken during the groundworks for the construction of two dwellings. The site lay within the historic core of the medieval village, close to the location of an Anglo-Saxon burial, discovered some years ago. A sequence of undated and dated pits were noted, several post-holes dated to the 17th century and a 19th century well. Artefacts recovered throughout the duration of the work included a glass vessel from the 19th/20th century, pottery fragments dating between the 14th and 19th centuries and a base of a glass vessel dating to the 17th century.
