Abstract: |
The desk based assessment showed that there was a high potential for significant archaeological deposits from the Roman period. A total of at least four buildings had been recognised, dating from the 2nd to 4th centuries, one at least appeared to have been of high status with a high quality mosaic. Timber structures, associated with 2nd century pottery, may also have preceded these buildings. Visible remains of the Roman defences, in the form of a low earthwork were also noted within the school playing field. [Au(adp)] |
