Abstract: |
The proposed development lay on the site of the former Leeds Central railway station and its associated goods yards. The station catered for the transport of passengers and goods and the complex included extensive warehousing facilities, associated railway sidings and other ancillary structures. The station was closed in 1967 and the site cleared and partially redeveloped, with some remaining structures Listed. Before the railway station, the land had been partially covered by a formal park or garden, and the remainder as open land, and in the medieval period parkland belonging to the Manor of Leeds.[Au(adp)] |
